If you're interested in where this all started. My name is Eric Herrera when I was 16 My mom bought me an airbrush for Christmas. Since opening that present my whole life changed. From designing concepts, studying graffitti artist styles. Ive been addicted to art for the majority of my life. For years I airbrushed out of my garage as a side hustle. I would develop long lines of people trying to see what all the fuss was about in that garage. One of my friends Nathan Chatfield would always point out to me that my designs werent like other fair or carnival type airbrush designers, but a more like a graphic t shirt style. He would say man you need to start a clothing brand. My response was always I like making custom pieces, not repetitive art. Nate said you will only make the design once, then mass produce them. I never until that moment he said that ever think of it in those terms. That triggered my interest on thinking about making a clothing brand. We used to fish every weekend for like two months straight at Verona. Where the feather and Sacramento river meet. We had noticed that every weekend the exact same fishermen were fishing next to us, wearing fishing shirts but that none of them represented where they were fishing at. I got the idea to make a fishing brand first. I had to talk to my other friend and fishing partner Jamie Davis he liked the idea of the fishing line but thought it should be bigger and so did Nate. I thought about making different lines after talking to them. But what would I call it? River City? Good name for the fishing line but not broad enough. Took 3 years to name it and come up with a logo, mean time In this time i had made over 320 designs. With all the uncertainty of how to structure the brand and what would other peoples rolls be it created some ruffled feathers. I narrowed it down to 3 names. The Originals was my first choice, wanted that desperately. It was taken. My second choice but didnt seem broad enough to grow a brand out of state. The Sacramento Brand. Sounded good to me. It was a pivotal part of our identity. I mean being a courier and owning a shopping cart retrieval business for so many years gave me a vast knowledge, and feel for Northern California intimately. Talking to all walks of people over the years. I have noticed that most people are proud to be where there from, or have a particularly fond memory of a place from there childhood. Often you can find me in a different city everyday creating a design for the people that live there. Hoping to strike a nerve with the locals and see if they like the flavors we're making. I think by doing this I am giving folks a tangible piece of identity to hold, look at, or wear proudly. Speaking to who they are to some small degree. I dont think i would be content doing anything else honestly. I feel it in my bones. I love making people feel good and in turn looking good. The name BIGBOYS was finally settled on by three people me Eric Herrera, Nathan Chatfield, and Jamie Davis. Even though this is my brand, I would have never made it if it wasnt for these to friends of mine. Honestly more like brothers. BigBoys means: Throughout your life you will make decisions and whether they are positive or negative the outcomes of those choices will shape who you become as an individual. The process of knowing who you are and being comfortable in your own skin is lifes journey. That process is what we call becoming a BIGBOY. THANKYOU! For letting me share a little piece of my story with you. If you get the chance you might enjoy staying tuned to the most epic clothing brand to ever come out of Northern California that might just make you smile! BigBoys Clothing The Sacramento Brand
